Looking north, the Shropshire Union Canal leads off to the left. The Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal continues ahead to Penkridge, Stafford and Great Haywood, where it meets the Trent and Mersey Canal (23km or 14 miles, as the heron flies). Sustrans Route 81 passes along the towpath.
