The Spread Eagle occupied 3, Northgate from 1851 until 1906 when it reverted to residential use. Licences were held by William Goffin, Charles Roper, Samuel Wright, Robert Harper and Martha Mills. In 1882 steps had to be taken to abate a nuisance on the pavement arising from want of a urinal.
