Opened in 1884 by the London Chatham & Dover Railway, this terminus station closed to passengers in 1899 when the LCDR combined with the South Eastern Railway and transferred its services to the SER station, on the site of the current railway station. The LCDR station continued existence as a goods station into the 1970s (needs confirmation). View west at the corner of the former terminus building. The train shed ran roughly parallel to the road, away from the camera position. The station site was completely lost when the London-Channel Tunnel high-speed rail link was built in the late 1990s, cutting diagonally across the site behind the hedge.
