A 1½ mile To and From milestone in front of 150 Church Street, Paddock. These stones were set up by the Town Watch Committee in the late 19C to regulate the Hansom Cab Fare-stages. The full height of this stone, 100cm, is still above pavement level. As the traveller would be proceeding towards the town centre, TO/HUDDERSFIELD/1½/MILES is on the left face. FROM/HUDDERSFIELD is on the face leading out of town.
