A double-track railway across Holes Bay near Poole. Most of the route across the bay is on an embankment built to carry the railway, but there are a couple of short bridges too. The railway links London, Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole with Dorchester and Weymouth. The railway is electrified using the third rail system.
