A view into the bell loft of St Enoder. The bells are situated unusually low down in the lofty tower of the church, and were probably relocated here from higher up the tower after its collapse in 1686. [Edit] I have just discovered that the bells were actually lowered to their current position as recently as 2006 as it was deemed dangerous to ring them in their original elevated position. There are a total of eight bells - I believe the one seen prominently in the centre of this image is the Tenor Bell with a rim diameter of about 3'6". It seems that the bells are not that old however, dating from the early C20th. It would seem likely therefore that they replaced some earlier bells - perhaps these were damaged by the tower's collapse. See http://saint-enoder-bells.blogspot.com for more information about the lowering of the bells.
