Offering a brief repose from the rapacious development which threatens to engulf and overwhelm it is the dignified former Eastern Dispensary, one of the first facilities to provide free healthcare to East London's poor. Built in 1858-59 by G.H. Simmonds. Grade II listed. It's now a bar, going under the name "Dispensary" when this photo was taken, but now the Leman Bar.
