Mashamshire Community Office Plc was incorporated in July 2002 and became a registered charity in July 2003. The Old Police House is leased but the charity is on track to raise enough money to purchase it this year (2023). The house was built in 1891 and originally housed the local police constable. Police officers have been using a room in the building but will move to the North Yorkshire fire station if the sale goes ahead. Acorns Pre-School is located within a single storey building to the rear of the Old Police Station and appears to have been formed from the conversion of outbuildings and the roofing over of a courtyard in 2002.
