Providing access from the lock up over the stone slab parapet onto Canal Street. Although still in situ, the provision of a modern extension to the parapet https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4259464. This view https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7499370 shows the stile in use. Note also the line of parking meters; a sign of the times, as Canal Street is now pedestrianised.
