The school mainly serves the neighbouring communities of Bawdeswell and Foxley. The building dates from 1875, with a third classroom and indoor toilets added in the 1960s, a staffroom and office and a fourth (mobile) classroom added in the 1990s. When Bawdeswell was bypassed in the 1970s, the main road facing the school became a cul de sac, which was much safer for the children.
