Older maps still show this with the long distance path marking under the name Berkshire Circular Routes. Several others can be found as well as this one, again on previous map editions. There is very little information about these paths. From what I can find, the theory is that they were an initiative from the former Berkshire County Council. The designed routes made it to the Ordnance Survey and got as far as the maps, but the BCC was wound up before any more progress could be made. Berkshire became a Ceremonial County only, with it's administration devolved to several local authorities who never took up the Circular Routes idea. The paths are still there of course, just not marked out as anything special.
