The former Birmingham Road

The short stretch of road beyond this gate is all that remains of the former A38 to Birmingham in this area, the rest having been lost under the M5. The road that dives down here to the left was constructed to connect Birmingham Road to Manor Lane and Redhill Lane, further west, which also was disrupted by the motorway.
