The bear's regiment, which became the Carpathian Lancers, who stayed in a military camp at Weelsby Woods while awaiting demobilisation at the end of the war. The bear's name means “happy in war”! The bear himself never came to Grimsby but was taken in by Edinburgh Zoo at the end of the war, and passed his last years there.
