The loch (on the right) is well-vegetated and full of greater reedmace (Typha latifolia). The path runs beside the shore of the loch and the frost has just melted here on a cold and frosty January morning. The areas more sheltered from the low sun are still frosted. The loch and part of Dougalston Estate are designated as a Local Nature Conservation Site by East Dunbartonshire Council.
