Directions to local towns and villages, plus a hint of the military history of the town. The Duke of Monmouth raised a force to claim the crown from James, Duke of York. His troops entered Ilminster on 17 July, 1685, on his way to a final defeat at Sedgemoor. Covid warnings are a modern touch.
