This factory on the corner of Bath Road and Central Avenue dates from 1910 (some sources give a date of 1890) although it was extensively rebuilt in 1946 following war damage and extended in 1956. It has always been involved with clothing manufacture; the first owners were Hart & Levy, an important Leicester company at the time. They manufactured upmarket 'Harlevia' suits as well as coats and other outerwear; during the two world wars production was switched to military uniforms. It is not known when Hart & Levy closed down but it may have been in the 1970s; after they had gone a series of other companies occupied the premises the last of which, Cascade Textiles Ltd, went out of business in 2008 citing cash flow problems. The factory is now empty.
