The stones built into this wall record that Queen's Park was opened on 5th October 1898 to commemorate the 60th year of Queen Victoria's reign. The freehold was purchased by the people of Harborne under the auspices of the Harborne Charity Fete Committee and presented to the City Council. At that time the park was in a semi-rural area to the west of Harborne, but today the whole area is largely built-up and the park is popular with and well used by local residents.
