The plaque reads: "This tree was planted on the 26th September 1998 by Dr. R.J.Edney, patron of the Faversham Horticultural Society to commemorate the Society's 50th anniversary. The tree was kindly donated by Mr. Len Cook of Gillett Cook Ltd." The base is surrounded by pumpkins and other Hallowe'en items, following the celebrations two days ago.
