In my playing days this was an extraordinarily eccentric and irregularly-shaped cricket ground, with the road crossing the outfield and an exceptionally short boundary, marked by a hedge, behind the wicket to the left in this picture. The old pavilion has been replaced in recent years, and there was not much sign of a rolled wicket in the place where the five-a-side football nets are.
