Formerly this was the New Inn, a Victorian public house built with polychromatic bricks. The building is Grade II listed; see: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1179569?section=official-list-entry . Godwins is named after Henry Godwin, for whom this former house was built to a design by architect Lewis Powell. Henry Godwin had a tile and brickworks in nearby Lugwardine.
