The old infirmary was located Bell Lane (now called Crown Street West). It was operational from 1821 until about 1839 when it moved to St Margaret's Plain, Image and was renamed Lowestoft Hospital in 1879, (now a car park) It was moved again to Ten Acre Field (Tennyson Road) in 1882. In 1926 the war memorial extension to the hospital in Alexandra Road was opened; (it too closed in 2016) https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3957553. When the hospital moved to St Mary's Plain this became a convalescent home until it was sold and converted in to two semi-detached dwelling houses.
