Southwick was a hotbed for the Baptist movement for many years. After other sites were used nearby, this one on Wynsome Street was chosen for a new building in 1815. Subsequent enlargements and alterations followed in the later decades, and a school room was built beside it, rebuilt in the 1870s. The building features Flemish Bond brickwork and Welsh slate roof tiles. Pevsner thought the window frames seemed older, perhaps from an earlier church. Grade II listed.
