Lower Treglisson, off Wheal Alfred Road. At the commencement of the drive to the main house, to the right of the gateway. Curved coffen stile with nine steps, turning through 90 degrees. Each step is 7 inches wide, 9 inches deep and approximately 3 feet long (18cm x 24cm x 1m). The stones and enclosing walls and gateposts are all in very good, crisp condition, suggesting a date of perhaps very late 19th century or early 20th century. A study of the history of Treglisson may tell more about the origin of this unusual stile. Coffen stile – a stile built over a pit – like a granite cattle grid.
