Every summer buildings in Tewkesbury display banners of Lancastrians and Yorkists who fought in the battle of Tewkesbury in 1471. The Azure one in the foreground with the three chevrons Argent and crescent Sable is that of Sir John Lewkenor of Goringe and West Grinstead, Sussex. He fought for the Lancastrians and was killed in battle and is buried in Tewkesbury Abbey.
