The house is the home of Stowe School and is owned by the Stowe House Preservation Trust who have spent more than £25m on restoration. The house is the result of four main periods of development dating back to 1677. The showpiece is the south facade overlooking the gardens, regarded as one of the finest examples of neoclassical architecture in Britain. The main front stretches over 460 feet (140m).
