This stone is from the damaged church at Nijmegen, the scene of one of the 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment 82nd Airborne engagements following the D-Day invasion of the Second World War. The plaque is dated May 1952 when the nearby Lime Tree avenue of trees were dedicated to the memory of the US Forces that had been based in the village.
