Pakefield church has never needed a causeway for access being on a clifftop, and I believe this is another example as in Needham Market of the name being a corruption of 'Corpse-way'; the route by which the bodies were taken to the church for burial. I have no proof but Needham Market has 'The Causeway' which has the same root.
