The view is south-southeast at, loosely, the north end of Waterloo Bridge. The plaque, right, signs the entrance to the Duchy of Lancaster at 1 Lancaster Place: see Image The Portland stone detailing appears of a piece with the bridge, which was designed around 1936 and opened in 1942.
