This guidepost to the east of the village of Ladock only retains one of its three original arms, the one that says New Mills 1 Blue Anchor 5 Quite why "Blue Anchor" is mentioned is a little difficult to understand. All there is in that hamlet at SW911579 is Image] - there are much more significant places that could have been alluded to. I can only think that it dates back to the coaching days when that pub was a place where horses could be exchanged for the onward journey.
