Litcham village sign - repainted

The sign depicts master tanner Matthew Halcott (in red) who was the benefactor of a new tower on the church after Charles II was restored to the throne. The church previously only had a small bell-cote. The sign shows a hide on tenterhooks and the church, as well as Mr. Halcott with his fleshing knife.
