This weathered milestone is to the north-east of Cowling at the top of Lane Ends Lane on Carr Head Lane. Any inscriptions on the front and right hand faces have eroded away but on the left side eTT/le/12m may be what can be made out with a hand pointing to the right. But Settle is many more miles away so even allowing for long 'Yorkshire' miles it is a mystery about the inscription although it may be on the old route from Keighley to Settle before the Keighley to Kendal turnpike was enacted. The stone has been broken and repaired near the base. It is Grade II listed 1131837.
