Opened in 1898 by the London & North Western Railway on the line from Crewe to Chester, this station replaced an 1840 one some 800m behind the camera position (see Image). In turn, this station closed to passengers in 1959 and completely in 1965. View north west towards Chester. The southbound platform building and goods shed were still extant when this image was taken. For more information, see http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/w/waverton/index1.shtml.
