The Bishop's Stortford - Witham line was cut back to leave just the Braintree - Witham part. The rest is largely a foot and cycle way now, the Flitch Way. Braintree Road crosses. There was formerly a halt, Bannister Green Halt, on the railway here, in use from 1922 to 1952. This was later removed, but has been recreated as a feature on the Flitch Way, but with the original access path from the road totally overgrown and fenced off. The official bridleway link between the Way and road is now beyond the bridge.
