War Department Boundary Marker set in the extrenal wall of a bastion facing southwest down the back terrace lane between Adelphi Street and Golgotha Road. Formerly inscribed W ↑ D / No 27 but has been effaced. It marked the boundary of the former Bowerham Barracks (King’s Own Royal Regiment, c.1873 to 1959), now a campus of the University of Cumbria.
