The former Western Synagogue (Ashkenazi Orthodox), Linnaeus Street, was founded September 1902 and consecrated May 1903, to a design by Benjamin Septimus Jacobs. Due to dwindling congregations, it was closed in 1994. Since 2 April 1995, the community relocated to the Hull Hebrew Congregation, 30 Pryme Street, Anlaby. The redundant building subsequently housed the Linden House Business Centre, access being via No.1 Convent Lane. The building is presently occupied by Hull Diyanet Mosque. Diyanet is The Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs.
