This piece of art is ‘The Wedding Guest’ by Marianne Forrest. It consists of a circular compass base with a sail and a silvery ball at the bottom. The sail and compass are clear nautical icons and the ball is very reflective - allowing the vast sky to be brought down to ground level. The compass has an old map of the Portishead area, surrounded by lines from Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
