Diesel locomotive 57316 “Alnwick Castle” acted as the support engine for the 02 March steam special trip to Carlisle. The south-bound leg of the trip used the scenic Settle line, a special pleasure in such lovely weather. The class 57 locomotives were remanufactured between 1998 and 2004 from the redundant class 47 engines.
