Inscribed on the boulder are the words: "In Memoriam Dr Diana Bates 1918-1998" (Diana was responsible for the early conservation work in what was to become the Craigencalt Rural Community Trust) On the plaque, this poem: "We return, we grow back. We go out and come in without sorrow. We join together without fault. We return to the change of the way. This last day comes, we return again. It is good to have a way that we travel."
