Middleton Avenue (foreground) retains its former alignment but the terraced houses that once ran right up to the fence of the Burmantofts terracotta works in the background have been replaced by modern housing. A newer street called Lydgate now runs parallel to the old factory site, now occupied by housing and a school car park.
