The site of the former Ritz on York Road in King's Heath. This was the site of the Beatles first concert in Birmingham. The concert took place on 15 February 1963, having been postponed from 11 January. This was 1963, the winter of the 'Big Freeze'. At the time 'Please Please Me' was riding high in the charts and a month later on 10 March the Beatles were back in Birmingham, this time at the Hippodrome. The building burned down in 2013. The building next door on the right also has its place in music history, in 1979 it was the first venue UB40 played.
