Booths Mere: about 12 acres in extent and around 4 feet deep. Although situated in a country estate dating back over 300 years, this is likely to be a natural feature - like many other meres in Cheshire - rather than a Capability Brown style creation of the landowner. It may be a happy accident that the ancestral Hall is not far from it. Some meres were created by glacial action, some by the collapse of ancient salt workings dating back to Roman times. This lake is licensed for Carp Fishing.
