Mistletoe, Viscum album (see Wikipedia here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viscum_album ), can be seen growing in lime trees that border the playing fields of King Henry VIII school along Spencer Road. Mistletoe is a hemiparasitic plant that takes nutrients from the tree on which it grows, while also producing nutrients through photosynthesis in its leaves and stems. It is spread by birds eating its sticky white berries and depositing the seeds on branches.
