This well-tended privately-owned (Calthorpe Estates) open space is located at the centre of an area that was redeveloped as housing in the latter half of the twentieth century. It was formerly occupied by a number of very large houses and their grounds. The mounds are presumably the consequence of the construction process. Although ball games are prohibited, the mounds were great for my wife to sledge on in her childhood.
