I have worked for West Mercia Police since 2012. I have been a PCSO since January 2014. I love the variety of my role and meeting new people.
I have worked for West Mercia Police as a Police Community Support Officer for over 12 years, covering both city and rural areas during this time. I'm often asked why I haven't become a Police Officer; for me personally, the PCSO role has more positives - we are given specific areas to cover which enables us to tackle community issues and work with partner agencies. In doing so, we get to know members of the community, giving them a point of contact for reassurance and advice.
PCSO's also assist Police Officers with crime enquiries and can provide valuable intelligence from the knowledge of each area. This information is often key when searching for missing people, vulnerable adults, Anti-Social Behaviour and drug activity.
