Arched gateway built of medieval fragments by Thomas Martin in 1877. Land agent for 14 Drury Lane he is said to have built it with stone from the Priory of St Catherine. Martin was a developer of land centred on Derby Street in 1876 and Edmund Venables (1819-1895) recorded discoveries made by him while laying either Colegrave Street or Derby Street. (I assume this is the Thomas Martin who was Mayor of Lincoln 1887-8).
