The hotel close to the old docks was originally The Unicorn. It was a 1960s building that embraced the styles of the day, with this section a multi-storey car park. It was bought out by the Jury Group in 2000, and the name changed to Bristol later. The site was, naturally, a magnet for traders and businesses involved with the port. It once had a mechanical institute before being rebuilt with offices, shops, pubs and warehouses.
