The steep north-facing slope above Shaldon cuts out the sun, especially in winter; it's not long after midday. The houses face onto the A3679 Torquay Road. Bright in the background is the Teign estuary, with a bank of The Salty above water, and port buildings at Teignmouth across it. The town's suburbs rise beyond.
