Museum premises, closed at present, off North Back Road. Albion Motors was founded in 1899 by two former employees of Arrol-Johnston, another Scottish motor manufacturer (see Image). The Albion factory was in Glasgow but the connection with Biggar arose from the initial capital for the company being raised against a mortgage on the Heavyside estate owned by the father of one of the founders. Albion cars were produced before World War 1, but the company then specialized in buses, lorries and light commercial vehicles. It was acquired by Leyland in 1951 and the Albion name ceased in 1972.
