To the left is the A1246, whilst to the right is a service road for residential properties. Until 2005 this was the line of the dual carriageway A1 with thundering traffic shaking properties to either side. Now the traffic has gone, thanks to the construction of A1(M) a little further to the east. I recall using the old A1 here on numerous occasions and feeling rather sorry for the people who had to live close to it.
