The gardens at Bateman's with the house in the distance. Bateman’s is a modest house, completed circa 1634 for a prosperous ironmaster. Later it was a farmhouse. The author Rudyard Kipling bought the house in 1902 and lived here with his family until his death in 1936. Constructed of sandstone under a tile roof. Now in the ownership of the National Trust.
